MANISES: 700 YEARS MANUFACTURING CERAMICS.

With some 100 ceramics factories and workshops in the municipality and about 25 in its area of influence, Manises is the largest production centre in Spain, with the difference that its economy has centred on this craftsmanship without interruption since the 14th century.

The importance of Manises ceramics has been revealed by a great amount of historical research on this subject and also in the subsoil itself. Archeological digs in the city over recent years have provided in-depth knowledge about the history of pottery: articles produced, structure of medieval workshops and manufacturing processes. Archeological techniques have demonstrated the highly developed skills of Manises ceramists during the late Middle Ages.
